The day this was taken was one of the last warm days of the year. I went on a walk to get out of the house and be alone for a little while. I made my way up to a little lookout, where the full view of the blue ridge mountains lay before me. The wind was strong in a way that was freeing--I opened my arms and balanced on the rocks for a minute, then sat for a while feeling a peace that’s hard to find in the city, or in my daily life when I’m tied to my responsibilities. In nature, time slows down and perspective on how to balance life comes into a clearer view. I could take time to play in the wind and to just sit, and not think about everything that’s left to do, that I haven’t done.
